To my supporters:
Although the election results were not what we had hoped for, we worked hard and made a very good showing. I am honored and humbled by the efforts of so many people on my behalf. A small but very dedicated core of supporters has spent the last seven weeks with me trying to get our message to every household in the county. We walked miles and miles and miles, and then took to our cars to reach the more rural areas. We endured rain, sleet, snow, cold and wind, and reveled in the isolated warm, sunny days with the promise of spring. My thanks and gratitude to you all.
Many of you also supported my campaign financially and with emails, phone calls and personal contact. Again, I thank you.
So now we go back to our everyday lives. I take with me the memories and the personal connections we developed over these past many weeks, even months. While we wished for a different result, I hope you all join me in believing it was worth the effort and that we did everything we could, and we acted with integrity and good will. Please keep that spirit alive as we move forward.
